Applications are currently being accepted for the role of Assistant Superintendent at the Octorara Area School District. The Assistant Superintendent will be directly supervising the implementation and evaluation of all curricular areas K-12. In so doing, s/he promotes the establishment of a high-quality, high-performing educational system providing curricular and instructional leadership, coordinating professional development programs for novice and experienced staff, facilitating program communications within and beyond the district, and providing analysis of measures of student progress. The Assistant Superintendent makes regular reports to the Superintendent and the School Board and is generally responsible for the quality of the elementary and secondary educational programs in the district. SALARY:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 12 months, 240 days per year, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Five years of successful teaching experience
- Five years of successful administrative experience (Building level preferred)
- Program development experience
- Education
- Minimum requirement: Master's Degree, Doctorate preferred
- Certification
- Valid Pennsylvania certification as a Supervisor of Curriculum and/or Letter of Eligibility
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To consult with the Superintendent, Business Manager, Director of Pupil Services, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Staff Development and Principals in the preparation of the annual budget
- To serve as a thought partner with the Superintendent in developing meaningful change and pursuing continuous improvement
- To prepare and maintain accurate records and files
- To prepare clear and effective district reports
- To handle routine administrative matters effectively
OASD COMMUNITY:
Located in southeastern Pennsylvania, the Octorara Area School District was established in 1956. It covers nearly 79.79 square miles and serves the boroughs of Atglen, Christiana, and Parkesburg, along with several townships. The district comprises four schools: Octorara Primary Learning Center (K-2), Octorara Elementary School (3-4), Octorara Intermediate School (5-6), and Octorara Jr./Sr High School (7-12), all located on one main campus. Approximately 2,100 students attend Octorara school.
