  • 1.  Director - PaTTAN

    The Director of PaTTAN is responsible for the administration of the PaTTAN-East Office with regards to fiscal operations, personnel management, and activities. The Director will  provide strategic leadership to ensure that the initiatives and programs offered by PaTTAN East are closely aligned with the goals and objectives of the Bureau of Special Education and the IDEA Funded State System of Support. This position is available starting July 1, 2024.  
     
    Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree in special education or related field required; Doctorate preferred
    • PA Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility required
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive educational administrative experience
    • Expertise (includes one of more of the following):
      1. Oversight of staff
      2. Responsibility of IU or Office-Level Budget
      3. Frequently interfaces with Board, Customers, and Stakeholders
    • Experience working effectively and cooperatively with administration, parents, and professional and non-professional staff within the educational community.
    • Experience coordinating and tracking staff assignments, maintaining accurate records for such assignments, and approval of invoices.
    • Ability to supervise and work effectively and cooperatively with administrative, professional, and non-professional staff.
    • Proficiency in the use of technology for individual communication and research.
    • Employs good oral and written communication skills; demonstrates good organizational skills.
    • Project management experience, including good organizational skills.
    • Possesses effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with other teachers, administrators, parents, students, support staff, and outside professional contacts.
    • Qualities of leadership and good communication skills.
    • Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.
    • Experience with OSEP federal grant programmatic and fiscal requirements (e.g., State Personnel Development Grant, Deaf Blind Project grant)
    • Experience in supervision of sensory and/or low incidence disability programming
    • Experience in planning and providing statewide professional development events/ conferences for up to 1600 participants.


    Duties & Responsibilities:

    1. Provide strategic leadership to ensure that the initiatives and programs offered by PaTTAN East are closely aligned with the goals and objectives of the Bureau of Special Education and the IDEA Funded State System of Support.
    2. Provide content leadership and coordinate statewide initiatives and activities at the request of the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
    3. Develop and monitor project budgets.
    4. Develop internal procedures for implementing Intermediate Unit and Bureau of Special Education policies.
    5. Develop, implement, and evaluate project objectives in conjunction with the Department of Education, Supervisors, and project staff.
    6. Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with statewide family organizations (e.g., PEAL- Parent Education and Advocacy Leadership Center, HUNE- Hispanicos Unidos Para Nino's Excepcionales, F2MAX-Familes To the MAX Stateswide Network.)
    7. Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with statewide sensory advisory panels (e.g., ERCHL- Educational Resources for Children with Hearing Loss, PaCES-BVI- Pennsylvania Advisory Committee on Education of Students who are Blind or Visually Impaired, PaDBAC- Pennsylvania DeafBlind Advisory Committee, SEAP-Special Education Advisory Panel.)
    8. Make recommendations for new hires to the Executive Director according to MCIU procedures.
    9. Supervise and evaluate the performance of ASCP, professional, and support staff.
    10. Manage the facility in which PaTTAN is located including responsibility for leases, safety, inventory, vehicles, equipment, and allocation of space to various project activities.
    11. Act as liaison between PaTTAN East and other PaTTAN offices, the Intermediate Unit Director of Student Services, OOPL, the Bureau of Special Education, and the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit Board of School Directors.
    12. Coordinate the development and production of PaTTAN publications.
    13. Serve as an active and contributing member of the MCIU Executive Director's Cabinet.
    14. Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director.


    Location:

    Work Schedule:
    Monday-Friday, 7.0 hours/day, 12 months (260-262 days/year)
     
    Salary:
    $132,804/year - $156,240/year
